Kauaʻi invites you to spend your time differently.
The oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands, it offers landscapes shaped over millions of years — and countless reasons to look up from your screen. Come for outdoor adventure, a restorative retreat, or time together in a setting that deserves your full attention.
A Landscape Worth Slowing Down For
Along the Nāpali Coast, steep cliffs and deep valleys meet the Pacific. Inland, Waimea Canyon and the forests of Kōkeʻe reveal another side of the island.
These landscapes deserve time. Build a day around exploring one area, pause at a lookout, and leave space for the weather and light to change the view.
There is history within this beauty, too. Nāpali's valleys hold remnants of Hawaiian communities and agricultural terraces — a reminder that this is a living cultural landscape, with stories extending far beyond a visitor's stay.

Beautiful Hikes, at Your Own Pace
From upland forests to dramatic coastal scenery, Kauaʻi offers rewarding ways to spend time outdoors. In Kōkeʻe, forest trails invite you to discover native plants and birds, while walks and scenic lookouts around Waimea Canyon reveal its rich colors, deep valleys, and remarkable scale.
For a more demanding adventure, the first two miles of the Kalalau Trail lead toward Hanakāpīʻai Beach—a roughly four-mile round-trip hike along the Nāpali Coast. Non-Hawaiʻi residents need advance Hāʻena entry reservations, with parking or shuttle arrangements planned ahead. Trails can be steep, muddy, and slippery, so choose an outing suited to your abilities and check current conditions before setting out.
For beautiful scenery without a hike, stop at Wailua Falls, just north of Līhuʻe. Its twin cascades can be admired from a roadside lookout. You may recognize the falls from the opening credits of Fantasy Island; morning sunlight sometimes catches the mist to create a rainbow.
Whether you prefer a forest walk, a challenging coastal trail, or a leisurely scenic stop, we’ll help you find experiences that suit your pace—with time to enjoy the beauty along the way.

By Air, by Sea & Along the River
Some of Kauaʻi's most remarkable landscapes lie beyond the road.
A scenic helicopter tour offers a different perspective on the island's dramatic terrain, revealing coastal cliffs, deep valleys, and parts of the lush interior that are otherwise difficult to reach. For a milestone celebration — or simply a moment of wonder — it can become a highlight of your stay.
Prefer to experience the coastline from the water? A Nāpali Coast boat excursion brings the scale of the cliffs into view from below. Choose an outing that suits your comfort, from a sailing excursion to a more adventurous ride.
For a different rhythm, consider guided kayaking on the Wailua River, paddling through a green river valley with time to appreciate the landscape around you.
You don't need to do all three. We'll choose the experience that best fits your interests, comfort, and season, with routes and departures dependent on conditions.

Space to Switch Off
If your everyday life runs on meetings, messages, and constant decisions, Kauaʻi offers an appealing change of pace.
Its draw is easy to understand: the chance to trade a crowded schedule for a few days of paying attention — to a mountain ridge, a conversation over lunch, or the sound of rain.
You don't need to disappear into a private estate to enjoy that feeling. Choose a comfortable base, plan a few experiences you're excited about, and protect some time to do very little.
That may be the island's particular magic: how much there is to notice when you give yourself the time.
Leave Room for the Everyday Pleasures
Between the bigger adventures, make room for local food, small businesses, and an unhurried meal.
Spend a morning exploring, return for an afternoon of rest, and let dinner be the only appointment left on the calendar. Traveling slowly creates more opportunities to connect with the people who call Kauaʻi home.
Arrive with curiosity and care. Follow local guidance, respect access boundaries, and let the island set some of the pace.
