Maui brings together the pleasures of a beach vacation with an island full of reasons to explore. Come for a honeymoon, gather the family, celebrate something special, or simply settle into a beautiful resort and let the days unfold.
The secret is finding the right balance: a stay you look forward to returning to, a few memorable adventures, and room for the unexpected.
Kaʻanapali: Beach Days & Tropical Gardens
For travelers who enjoy having the beach, restaurants, and shopping close together, Kaʻanapali is an appealing place to settle in.
The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kaʻanapali brings a playful tropical welcome: waterfalls, koi ponds, lush gardens—and yes, flamingos. Along with its beachfront setting and pools, those little details make the resort especially memorable for families. Nearby Whalers Village adds easy options for shopping and dining between beach days.

Wailea: Find Your Kind of Resort
In Wailea, the resort itself can become a highlight of the trip. The right choice depends on how you want to spend your days.
Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort pairs contemporary design with direct access to Mōkapu Beach, cascading infinity pools, and farm-to-table dining. Its rooms, suites, and villas offer different ways to settle in, from a couples' escape to a gathering with family or friends.
Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea invites a classic beach retreat, with a Wailea Beach setting, dining, and poolside lounging. It is an appealing option when the holiday calls for time together and a little indulgence.
Fairmont Kea Lani offers another reason to linger: spacious suites and villas on Polo Beach. For families and multigenerational trips, the opportunity to have more living space can make the stay feel particularly comfortable.
Choosing well means looking beyond the view to the room layout, atmosphere, dining, and experiences that suit your group.

Beyond the Beach: Hāna & Upcountry
Leave a few days open to discover another side of Maui.
The road toward Hāna invites you into a landscape of winding bends, waterfalls, and lush greenery. Having returned many times, I encourage travelers to give this journey breathing room. Choose a few meaningful stops and allow time to enjoy them.
Upcountry offers a different change of pace. Around Kula and Makawao, build a day around farms, local flavors, and time exploring small towns. Maui's agricultural landscape is part of its story—and a rewarding reason to venture inland.
Haleakalā, a farm visit, or a leisurely Upcountry outing can each become the centerpiece of a day. You don't need to fit everything into one excursion.

Taste Your Way Around the Island
Food deserves a place in the itinerary.
A farmers market, a farm visit, a relaxed lunch, or a special dinner can introduce a different side of Maui. My own visits have included Ono Farms, the island's winery and a distillery, along with meals at Mama's Fish House and Tommy Bahama.
For your trip, we can shape those discoveries around what you enjoy—fresh ingredients, local food culture, a celebratory table, or simply somewhere delicious after a day outdoors.
Leave room for a meal worth lingering over.

Winter Brings Something Extraordinary
Winter adds another reason to visit: humpback whales return to Hawaiian waters, and the waters between Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi are especially important habitat. A whale-watching excursion can become one of the most memorable experiences of the trip.
Pair time on the ocean with relaxed resort days, good food, and a little exploring. It is a lovely way to experience Maui without filling every hour.
